Chex Mix
I suppose i'm weird, but i can't stand how many pretzels they put in a bag of chex mix. It seems every handful i grab is one or two chex bits and 75 freakin pretzels. Whats the deal General Mills? Who the hell likes pretzels that much?!?!?!?! I mean don't get me wrong, a pretzel here and there adds texture to a delicious mouthful of chex goodness. But every now and then I have a moment, a slight moment. When my hand dives into the bag, i scoop and snag what i can and when i pull my hand out, the planets align, the gods smile upon me, and there are no pretzels in my handful. It seems that in this moment nothing on the earth can go wrong. there are no starving children, everyone in the world is honest, and good, I can't help but believe I can conquer the universe. The reason i tell you this, is to say when I see Sam IT IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN A PRETZELESS HANDFUL OF CHEX MIX. and if a handful of pretzeless chex mix is that good, and only happens every now and then, you can imagine how complete my life is when i get to see my sam everyday.

Overwhelming Emotions, 2, Eric Wiscombe, 0
What is it about cheesy sports movies that get me every time? I watched Hardball, with acting tour de force Keanu Reeves. Without fail, the end of that movie brings me to tears. As for other overwhelming emotions, it really hit me my little sister Katie is getting married. Little katie anna banana, katie can, katydid, kat, katiss, is taking the plunge. I'm not worried for her or anything, Its just weird to see someone i've known forever become someone else now. She'll always be my little sister, but now she's also Spencer's wife. Its just a trip. Glad to pick up a brother in law, but still saddened to lose my little sister. But hey what can you do? Life is change.
Anyways, this last week has been one of a series of crazy events. I'll try to break it down old school so you don't have to hear too much of my rambling. We'll even do it in TopTen format. Who's EXCITED?!?!?! you bet your sweet lillywhite hind end you're excited.
1: Cousin Lesa and I hung out finally! (we've been planning this for like a year and half no joke.) It was phenomenal. We're pretty much B.F.F's now. So anyone levying for that position in the life of Eric M.Wiscombe, its taken. Sorry to break your heart.
2:I realized i have the best friends in the whole wide world. I've been a bit of a burden this last little bit but my friends are always there to help out at a moments notice. God bless you guys. (and girls.)
3: I've started really playing guitar again. Haha my style of music i enjoy has drastically changed but, i think it should be pretty fun to start trying to perform again.
4: I met a palestinian from the old section of jerusalem. Haha that was a great hour and half conversation. Just thought i'd share that with you.
5: My brother Andrew texted me this week, and we talked political science for a while. Haha it was awesome to hear from him.
I'm just going to leave this as a top five. Haha i'm tired and sore. I got in an accident yesterday and it was epic. They make those windows on those automobiles strong as hell. Lucky for all of you folks, i'm built like an effin tank. hahaha not really but i'm fine just sore.
Also, anyone looking for an epic movie there are two i'd like to point you towards.
1: INGLORIOUS BASTERDS. Whew. enough said.
2: The Aviator. Leonardo DiCaprio does an epic job. Its been out a while but its really really good.
Thanks for tuning in again. Until next time.

I guess when you get it, you got it.
A piece of my heart melted today. The piece that should have never melted, the piece that should have stayed hardened forever, defrosted, cracked, and broke today. I know you're wondering, hey eric what piece could that be? Well i'll tell you. The corner of my heart that would never allow me to listen to christmas music before thanksgiving.
I was sitting in a dollar tree before work and on the P.A. system they're blaring christmas music and i was super put off. I know I shouldn't sweat the small stuff but my hell thanksgiving is its own freakin holiday. So i'm standing by the funjuns minding my own business when the christmas theme from the charlie brown special comes on. You know the one that goes "christmas time is here." and its got that really soulful piano riff. Ooohhhh heavens to betsy, I was in the christmas spirit. I thought about saving all the orphans in the world, and singing carols at homeless shetlers, giving my mom and nephews neices hugs on christmas day, building a snowman, seeing clark and katie and the girls, building a fire in the fireplace, playing guitar, eating christmas dinner, reading scriptures( more specifically the nativity.) I remembered how much I love christmas, and the true meaning of the holiday, how i spent two years really teaching the true meaning and the real gift behind christmas. I got a little misty I won't lie. Then Michael Bolton came on and sang "Go tell it on the mountain", and the moment was gone. F you Michael Bolton you dirty frizzy haired honkey. Bring on some turkey.
Anyhow after that mishap i finished work and me and two of my very best friends Kory, and Caleb came and rescued me and we had us a game night. Watching kory finally lose at something was refreshing, i imagine it felt a lot the same as kicking Hitler in the nuts would feel. Then I lost to caleb and my arrogance was lost. But they made it a point to talk a little bit and have a spiritual message. I'm blessed to have the friends I do. I know both of these guys would do anything for me, and I know the Lord has placed them in my path to keep me righteous. They help me WANT to be a better person. Love you both boys, your help is always welcome. I have more support than I know what to do with.
Anyhow thats it for this post, In summation i suppose what I want to get across is, Enjoy turkey day, burn your michael bolton albums in your christmas fireplace fires, and take the time to recognize the wonderful people we have in our lives. Don't know what i'd do without them. And on that note, anyone looking for some turkey bowl to make their thanksgiving right, I'm totally down for a bloodbath. I've been told my skills as a middle linebacker are much like a young Ray Lewis, I'm just saying.

Already?!?!?! Mother Falcon.
Who's the luckiest big brother in the world? i'd totally be tempted to say andy and phil but i know its me! I got to spend last night with my little sister Jamie k. Cook. What a freakin champ folks? She embodies so many positive virtues and traits, its hard to be around her and not be a better person. She may be a tad bit ditzy at times, but honestly she's the funniest chick i've ever met.
Our night started grocery shopping with my mom a.k.a BIG MAMA. (An excursion that should only take a half hour that ends up taking three weeks. It must be a mother thing, you know, make friends with everyone in the store, and the bum outside the store. Merle was his name in case you were wondering.) My dad jeff, jamie, and i tried our hardest to keep ahead of mom and run some damage control, but no one can stop the social hurricane that is Anne T. Cook. So jamie in order to keep her big brother entertained starts cracking her one liners, and the chick is sharp. I haven't giggled that much in quite a while. At one point i was giving her a piggy back ride and she was spurring me. what a hoser. Anyhow that trip ended, thankfully, with us getting out of the store before midnight.
Jamie had a party to go to with all of her freakin awesome high school pals. Leaving this poor kid with mom and dad. Which it turns out mom and dad are pretty legit. We went to dinner and My dad jeff cracked more dirty jokes than mom, which is a first. Anyhow during dinner we get a text message from Jamie to come pick her up. She said she wanted to come home and hang out with her big brother. Gulp. here come the tears. As much as i wanted her to stay and to make friends, it warmed me to the core she wanted to kick it with me.
We picked her up and i tried my damndest to talk her into staying with her friends but she would have none of it. We got home and decided it was time to ball it up. I promptly got ready for the bloodbath that would ensue. Jam said she needed to eat and change. I started to warm up. Continued warming up...................... Played some horse.................made some important phone calls............................Circumnavigated the globe..........checked in the house and jamie was still eating the same sandwich she'd made forty years ago. (literally forty years) She finally changed and we played some wicked sweet ball. Honestly folks, the titans entombed underneath mt. olympus couldn't have held us down, let alone a blithering pissant like kobe bryant. Our skills were just too formidable.
We decided that the roundball revolution we created was still a few years out from being mainstream, it was time to go to bed. But little sister was nice enough to do my hair for me before she retired to her chambers. This lame lifetime movie was on while she was doing my hair . i hate those damn movies cause you can always tell what the whole plot and i mean literally THE WHOLE plot will be within the first five minutes. needless to say we were hooked.
This morning she helped me get the drive to attend my worship services like a good boy. i heard a lot of good things that i really needed to hear, things that will help in my day to day struggle. haha i love calling it the struggle cause it makes me feel like tupac shakur. Anyhow, i guess more or less this is an ode to JAMIE KAY COOK. she may be goofy, she may be scatter brained, she may be a grade A smart ass, but she is an amazing example of what a good person should be. i'm thankful to have her. Love you little sis.

Check Mic One.
Is this thing on?
Alright, the purpose of this blog is more or less to map my progress throughout college and other various aspects of my life. I'm pretty freakin shotty at blogging consistently but what the hell right? We'll give it the old college try.
So current happenings in my life are:
1: I'm in college at U.V.U. (an adventure every minute, if anyone tells you otherwise, kick them square in the goods.)
2: I'm in the process of what mother would call, "Getting my s**t together."
3: I'm working towards becoming a Political Science professor. Hopefully even a PhD if I can swing the schooling.
4. I suck at dating. (probably a blessing in disguise.)
5. I sat in a hot tub that was filled with bleach and nair and my legs are quite the spectacle.
6. I'm a bit of a less active mormon in a predominantly mormon community. (lucky for me i have a million friends to help with that.)
7. I have probably the coolest family to grace this earth. Anyone wishes to debate that, this is an open forum. Just be prepared to get smashed.
8. I've recently taken up rugby. (all the smoke from the earlier years in my life has definitely clouded my judgement.)
9. I still want a tattoo ridiculously bad. (help!)
10. And i created this blog as more of a choose your own adventure type forum. Basically i'll be filling you in on whats shakin in my life and leave it open to everyone who wishes to comment and give me some good advice. (I love advice!)
Anyhow, keep posted folks, i'll try to stay on top of this one.
